Delegate Nomination Notice for District 12 Caucus

Local 1613 has 6 (six) delegates by virtue of the office to which each was elected. The Local is entitled to 10 (ten) delegates to participate in the AFGE District 12 Caucus on May 16, 2020, 10:00 am at the Mission Bay Resort in San Diego.
At the membership meeting on March 10, 2020, 6:00 pm at the VFW Post 2275, located at 136 Chambers Street, El Cajon CA 92020, the membership will be determining:

1. If the local will participate in the AFGE District 12 Caucus;

2. Whether the local will: (a) authorize only its existing delegate(s) to cast the local’s full membership strength at the District Caucus; OR (b) elect delegates up to its full complement, in addition to the existing delegates;

3. How many delegates will the Local fund to attend the Caucus; and

4. Will votes be distributed proportionately among the delegates who attend.

If more Delegates are to be requested by virtue of office. A nomination of additional delegates will occur on March 10, 2020. A second for a nomination is not required. Self-nominations are permissible. Nominations also may be made in writing, and must be received by at Union office, Attn: Election Committee Chairman, 2801 B street #160,
San Diego, CA 921024328 no later than 5:55 pm on March 10, 2020

Qualifications for office of delegate: be a member in good standing of this local; be a member for one year of an AFGE local, immediately preceding the closing of the nomination process; not be a member in any labor organization not affiliated with the AFL-CIO; candidates shall not run for more than one office in the same local election; Any member who has paid dues since February 1, 2019.

Candidates must accept nomination at the nomination meeting or, if not in attendance, submit a written acceptance to Election Committee Chairman, to be received by close of nominations. A lone letter of acceptance is a self-nomination. The member making the nomination has the responsibility of informing the nominee of his or her nomination. Placement on the ballot will be determined immediately following the nominations.

If an election is required, additional information regarding the election will be provided in a separate notice which will be mailed to all members at the address on file.
